SUZIE REVISITED

Last August Suzie volunteered to an interview about her life story (‘Lets meet Suzie’ – blog dated August 2023)

Song: Boyzone- ‘No matter What’

Recently I spoke to Suzie about her life in the past 12 months. This was her response.

”I had been going really well but after Christmas I began to feel a lot more tired than usual. I put it down to getting older. In February I was getting pains across my neck and back, feeling nauseous and having very little energy.

This continued on and off for a few days. After waking up one morning and the pain feeling worse my husband phoned for the ambulance.

This resulted in me being in hospital for a week after it was confirmed I had a heart attack.

I had to take it easy for the first month after the heart attack, I had lost a lot of weight but now I feel much better, I have more energy and have put on some weight. I take regular medication for my heart and also Vitamin C and D, Fish Oil, and Vitamin B12. I was told by a friend that taking Vitamin B12, C and fish oil together can help prevent the onset of Alzheimer’s disease.

I still get exercise from gardening and eat a nutritious diet mostly home made meals, fresh vegetables, soups and salads. Every week I make a batch of coleslaw and bean salad as a side dish to have with chicken or cold meat on a bread roll.

Suzie’s 80th Birthday

I plan to start walking when the weather warms up. I know I should give up smoking but I haven’t yet. I usually have two to three beers each week.

I spend my day pottering around, watching Netflix movies or documentaries, doing word finders and playing computer games. I go out shopping a few times a week and to the club with friends.

I still love YouTube music and music documentaries. I have a new favourite band ”Boyzone” and love the song “No Matter What”.

I had a lovely party for my 80th Birthday with close friends and a surprise visit from my daughter.

Suzie had a lovely birthday celebration with family and friends.

The highlight for the year was becoming a Great Grandmother. Bobby was born in May, a healthy baby boy.

My purpose now is to keep myself healthy with diet and exercise and to keep doing the things I enjoy and that make me happy, going out with friends and listening to my favourite music.”

Thank you Suzie for sharing an update of your last twelve months. It’s been a year of highs and lows but I’m so glad you have made a great recovery and how special to have your first Great Grand Baby. Suzie will also complete the Food for the Brain Cognition Function test.

Next month I will share my results from the Cognitive Function test I did in July. Also I will be promoting foodforthebrain.aug as they launch the Cognitive Function Test, Test Kits and the Alzheimer’s Prevention Campaign. This is all new for Australia. Plus I hope to be one of the first Australian to participate in the blood test that will be available early September.

Till next time – “keep on Rocking and Rolling”
