Welcome to Baby Boomer Centenarians 2026.
In this blog post I will revisit the rationale for these monthly blogs and provide an overview for this year’s topics.
My name is Kim. I posted my first blog three years ago. Since then I have posted a new blog each month on topics such as exercise, balance, stress management, ageism, grandparenting, technology, plus many more topics. Each year I share an update on the lives of some inspiring future centenarians who share my passion for living a long and healthy life.

I am a Baby Boomer born in 1957 and am 68 years young. My goal is to be a healthy CENTENARIAN and over the following decades I will be working towards this goal. Within this goal it is important not to be just adding years to life, but adding life to years. I am inspired to make every year of the Centenarian journey the healthiest and happiest possible.
If you have a similar mindset and aspire to become a healthy Centenarian regardless of your age or generation, I want to inspire you to follow me and join me in this journey.
Music is an integral part of life and the majority of Baby Boomers were born into an era of new rock bands and songs constantly emerging, creating a soundtrack to our lives. So, look out for songs and music featured throughout these blogs as inspiration and fun as we work towards this goal together.

In Australia, recent data suggests males might live to around 81 years while females might expect to live to around 85 years. These are averages and factors such as lifestyle and personal health play an important role.
Australia has seen a significant increase in its centenarian population, rising from over 3600 people in 2021 to approximately 6000 in 2026 – a trend that continues. The Australian Government estimates that by 2050 there will be more than 50000 centenarians. In 2050 I will be 93 years young and the oldest of the baby boomer generation will be 105 years young!
It is amazing how the trends and information has changed since I started writing these blogs. Gut health and the microbiome have become more widely researched, plant based diets and eating the rainbow are highly recommended and it is now known there is strong correlation between gut health and brain health.
This year I will delve into how the government is preparing for the expansion of the aging population and what resources we can access to make our lives happier, healthier and safer.
I will also update many of the previous topics as to how they relate to new research and current trends.
I will introduce the redesigned American dietary guidelines that now focus on ‘real’ minimally processed foods, less grains and more proteins, healthy fats and vegetables.
I hope you will join me on this journey to becoming a healthy centenarian. If you already follow my blog posts – thank you. I do this as a community service for the benefit of whoever is interested in living healthier, longer and for all ages and generations. Please feel free to add comments or suggest topics that might be of interest to yourself that can be shared with others.
So, Till next time- ‘Keep on Rocking and Rolling’
Kim
